DESCRIPTION

Pripyat is that place the mind does not want to go back to. It is memories frozen in time, where on April 26, 1986, the explosion of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant stopped all the clocks and erased the life plans of its closest residents. Since then, Pripyat (a city built exclusively to accommodate all the plant workers and, in fact, the closest to the plant) has become an abandoned city, surrounded by the exclusion zone that prohibits human habitation, although nature has found its way and reclaimed the spaces denied to it by humans long ago.

Based on this premise, the pain of a sudden rupture, the enduring suffering that was born one day and will never leave, and the impossibility of returning to a place where dreams died abruptly, this project has been approached. The blurry images represent the life that was and is no more, the memories that remain hidden in some corner of the mind. In contrast, the metallic elements serve as a reminder of the Soviet society that, in its heyday, stood as a modern, industrialized civilization with its gaze fixed on the future, the universe, without limits. It represents human intervention and its absolute ambition, of which only lifeless remnants remain.
